Alfa Romeo releases Giulia Veloce

Another variation of Alfa Romeo’s rather beautiful Giulia saloon has arrived.

Called the Veloce, which means fast in Italian, it sits in the middle of the range between the refined ‘Speciale’ and super quick ‘Quadrifoglio’ versions.

Powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, the Veloce has 280bhp and develops 400Nm of torque, propelling the car from 0-60mph in 5.7 seconds. This means a top speed of 149mph.

The Veloce is fairly economical too, managing an average of 46.3mpg and emitting 141g/km of CO2, which is better than the equivalent Mercedes-Benz C300 AMG Line.

Externally, the Veloce looks as stylish as the rest of the range. Flared wheel arches and large 18-inch turbine alloy wheels really make it stand out from the crowd as do chunkier bumpers front and rear. It is also available in the optional Misano blue, a unique colour to the Veloce.

Front and rear parking sensors, headlamp washers and larger brakes all come as standard too with the Veloce.

Inside there are plenty of features to keep you occupied, fro m the 8.8-inch colour TFT screen infotainment system to the leather sports seats and aluminium paddleshifters on the back of the steering wheel.

Other gadgets on-board include plenty of safety kit. The Giulia scores a five star Euro NCAP safety rating thanks to forward collision warning, autonomous braking, lane departure warning and cruise control with a speed limiter all being included as standard.

Alfa Romeo’s updated DNA driving mode selector also comes as standard, with drivers able to choose between dynamic, natural and all weather depending on the road conditions.

The Giulia Veloce is available to buy now and costs from £37,935.
