All-new Seat Ibiza to debut at Geneva Motor Show

Seat will unveil its new all-new Ibiza at this month’s Geneva Motor Show.

The Ibiza is the Spanish carmaker’s most successful model of all time, selling more than 5.4 million units across four generations since it was launched in 1984.

This fifth-generation model is expected to be as popular as its predecessors, thanks to a sporty new appearance, a host of new technology, increased interior space and as rewarding a drive as ever.

The new model has been developed in Barcelona and is based on Volkswagen Group’s MQB-A0 platform – the first time the platform has been seen in a supermini.

Driving assistance systems seen in the Leon and Ateca can be specified in the new Ibiza, including front assist and adaptive cruise control.

Meanwhile a six-speaker Beats sound system with a subwoofer plus a 300W amplifier, a wireless charger and three in-car connectivity options of Apple Car Play, Android Auto and Mirror Link also feature.

All of this technology can be controlled through the new Ibiza’s integrated eight-inch touchscreen.

Matthias Rabe, the company’s vice-president for research and development, said: “The new Seat Ibiza embraces Seat’s design DNA and ensures fantastic driving performance.

“With the new modular MQB-A0 platform, the Seat Ibiza rises to technologies from higher segments, and in terms of comfort it improves its interior roominess and variability markedly.”
