Audi reveals new A5 and S5 Sportback models ahead of Paris debut

Audi has revealed latest versions of its popular A5 and S5 Sportback models.

The A5 Sportback comes with a completely new look and even more technology than before, factors Audi hopes will help make the car as appealing as its predecessor was.

Over the seven-year lifespan of the original A5, more than 340,000 examples were built. Thanks to improved levels of luxury and equipment, the new car is shaping up to be just as successful.

The new A5, which will make its debut at the Paris Motor Show, has increased in size over the old model. In the cabin, there is an additional 17mm in interior length and 24mm more knee room. This change in proportions will help improve the A5 Sportback’s levels of comfort in the front and the back.

Storage space in the boot has also received a boost, with 480 litres of room now available. Fold the back seats down and this increases to 1,300 litres.

A choice of two petrol and three diesel engines will be available to power the new A5 Sportback.

The new S5 Sportback will feature a powerful, turbocharged V6 engine producing 349bhp and 500Nm of torque. This enables the S5 Sportback to sprint from 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds, and on to a limited top speed of 155mph.

New bumpers and air intakes adorn the S5’s exterior, while the signature aluminium finishing still features on the wing mirror housing. Quad tailpipes give an idea of the S5’s performance-orientated nature.

Orders for the new A5 Sportback range are expected to open in the UK in mid-October.
