Caterham unveil powerful new Seven 310 model

Caterham has revealed a brand-new model set to join its popular Seven range – the 310.

The new vehicle has been designed to balance outstanding performance and incredible handling, and sits above Caterham’s Seven 270 model.

The Seven 310, which is priced from £24,995, uses a re-worked Sigma engine that produces 152bhp. This extra performance was a rather accidental addition, and was found when a 270 underwent work so it could compete in the Supersport racing category, rather than the Tracksport.

The engine was fitted with high-performance camshafts, and also had its mapping completely revised – giving it the boost in power.

LED headlamps also make an appearance on the 310 for the first time in the Seven model’s history.

Current 270 owners can upgrade their cars to 310 specification for £1,495.

Simon Lambert, chief motorsport and technical officer for Caterham Cars, said: “It’s entirely fitting that the Seven 310, which we feel perfectly synchronises power and handling, has come out of the motorsport engineering process.

“This car will be genuinely loved by Caterham enthusiasts, but will also convert car fans in general who understand that creating a genuinely fun driving experience is not about simply adding more and more power; that often, less is more.”

The Caterham Seven 310 is available to order now, with the first cars arriving in early 2017.

Lambert commented: “If Caterham was only going to make one car for the rest of its days, this would be it.”
