Citroen unveils all-electric E-Berlingo Multispace

Citroen has unveiled an all-electric version of its Berlingo – the E-Berlingo Multispace.

Able to offer an all-electric range of 106 miles, the E-Berlingo Multispace remains a versatile and practical mode of transport.

Its compact permanent magnet synchronous motor means the E-Berlingo Multispace is able to offer smooth and progressive acceleration.

It joins the C-Zero in Citroen’s line-up of electric cars, giving buyers an alternative to the compact city vehicle. The layout of the E-Berlingo remains the same as the car upon which it is based, so is able to offer two sliding side doors and removable seats.

It also has a slightly better range than the C-Zero, which can only drive around 93 miles on all-electric power.

Charging times are respectable, with the E-Berlingo able to recharge 50 per cent of its total range in 15 minutes or to 80 per cent capacity in 30 minutes from a rapid charge point. However, its standard charging time from a conventional power supply is around 10 hours.

Regenerative braking is also used when slowing the car down, helping to add extra charge to the batteries when out and about.

Pricing has yet to be confirmed, but it’s likely that these figures will be released this autumn.
