Dacia Sandero retains sub-£6,000 asking price despite upgrades

Dacia has announced the pricing and specifications of its new Sandero as order books for the new hatchback open today.

Despite maintaining its headline-grabbing £5,995 asking price, the budget supermini has benefitted from upgrades to its aesthetics, cabin quality and standard equipment.

There’s also a new 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine with the same power output as the 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine it replaces, yet it improves fuel economy by as much as 10 per cent.

Further forward, there’s a new honeycomb grille, complemented by double optic headlights similar to those found on the current Duster SUV.

Inside, drivers will find a satin-effect chrome finish on the air vent surrounds and centre console fascia, while Laureate-spec cars get an improved multifunction steering wheel fitted with audio and cruise control functions.

As standard, all variants apart from the basic Access trim get DAB digital radio, and air conditioning is now included on all Ambience-spec vehicles.

Top-spec Laureate cars will also be treated to a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, as well as standard-fit USB connectivity and rear parking sensors.

The Sandero’s sister cars – the estate-bodied Logan MCV and the crossover-inspired Sandero Stepway – have been bestowed with similar upgrades, and start from £6,995 and £8,795 respectively.
