Ford give Kuga and Edge SUVs Vignale treatment

Ford will extend its luxury Vignale range to two more models, the Kuga and the Edge SUVs, the American manufacturer has announced.

The new Kuga Vignale and Edge Vignale will join the existing Mondeo and S-Max Vignale models, all of which are designed to offer buyers a more upmarket option.

The Edge and the Kuga will be the first Ford SUVs to wear the Vignale badge. They have both been equipped with a generous level of equipment, and feature tuxedo-stitched Windor leather throughout their respective cabins.

Adorning the front of both cars is the hexagonal grill design common to all Vignale models.

Both will feature a selection of fuel-efficient engines. Buyers who opt for the Kuga Vignale will be able to choose either a 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol unit or a 2.0-litre diesel. The Edge Vignale, on the other hand, is available with either a bi-turbo diesel or a regular 2.0-litre diesel.

Roelant de Waard, vice president of marketing, sales and service for Ford Europe, said: “Our Ford Vignale range speaks directly to the growing trend for upmarket SUVs and represents the very best of Ford with luxurious design, materials and craftsmanship.

“We see great potential to extend the top end of our Ford product range and offer a special experience that meets the growing expectations of our customers.”

Ford’s new Sync 3 infotainment system features on both cars, and is operated though an eight-inch touchscreen that incorporates pinch and swipe gesture controls.

Jim Farley, chairman and CEO of Ford of Europe, said: “Our customers have high aspirations, and they want more from Ford. On some vehicles, our top-of-the-line Titanium specification make up 70 per cent of all sales.

“With Ford Vignale, we can offer them the absolute best of Ford in terms of luxury and personal service.”
