Jeep releases hugely powerful Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

Jeep has revealed an extreme version of its Grand Cherokee SUV.

Named the Trackhawk, it is powered by a 6.2-litre supercharged V8 producing 707bhp – which makes it the most powerful SUV ever.

The powerful engine allows the Trackhawk to reach 60mph in just 3.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 180mph.

As standard, the Trackhawk comes with an all-new Brembo braking system capable of bringing the car to a halt from 60mph in just 114 feet.

It also produces 874Nm of torque – giving it the ability to tow up to 7,200 pounds, the equivalent of five dairy cows.

The exterior of the Grand Cherokee has also been heavily beefed-up. It wears a full sports bodykit and is fitted with 20-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights and various LED lights.

Thanks to an all-new cooling system, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is capable of using 30,000 litres of air per minute to cool its engines when travelling at speed.

A choice of five different driving modes is also available, with each calibrated to give the car better capability on a variety of different surfaces. These modes include auto, sport, track, tow and snow.

Inside, the Trackhawk is fitted with an 8.4-inch infotainment system, as well as a flat-bottomed steering wheel with paddleshifters mounted to it.

Launch control is another function fitted as standard, which is ideal for those who want to take their Trackhawk to the track.

Prices and a release date for the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk are yet to be announced.
