Kia reveals prices for new Rio supermini

Kia’s new Rio supermini has gone on sale in the UK, with prices starting at £11,995 for the basic ‘1’ version.

The fourth-generation Rio is available only as a five-door, and will be offered in three different levels of trim, as well as a limited-edition model.

Equipment on the entry-level ‘1’ model includes air conditioning, electric windows, Bluetooth and steering wheel-mounted audio controls.

Rios in the mid-range ‘2’ specification will cost upwards of £13,745 and gain features such as 15-inch alloys, leather-trimmed steering wheels, a five-inch colour infotainment screen, reversing camera and cruise control.

The top-level ‘3’ models gain 16-inch alloys, automatic air conditioning, faux leather upholstery, automatic wipers, heated seats and a seven-inch display unit. These models will cost from £16,295.

The limited-run First Edition models that will feature at launch gain features such as 17-inch alloys, keyless start and black and red faux leather upholstery on the seats.

A wide range of engines are also available to order. In addition to the existing 1.25-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel and petrol engines, Kia has also introduced a new 1.0-litre turbocharged unit to the line-up.

This new engine comes in either 99 or 118bhp states of tune, and can manage up to 62.8mpg on the combined cycle.

The 1.4-litre diesel remains the most economical power plant, with a combined economy figure of 80.7mpg and CO2 emissions as low as 92g/km.
