Lamborghini unveils new flagship Aventador S

Lamborghini has revealed its new top-of-the-range Aventador S supercar.

The 740bhp V12-engined two-seat coupe boasts a 2.8-second 0-60mph time and a top speed of 217mph.

It has also been aerodynamically tweaked compared with the standard Aventador, and benefits from uprated suspension and electronics.

On the outside, the S model is set apart by its larger nose and longer front splitter, both of which work in tandem to redirect airflow for better engine cooling and efficiency.

At the back, there’s an enlarged black diffuser, which reduces drag and downforce and may be specified in bare carbon-fibre.

The Aventador S also has four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering, allowing the rear wheels to turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels, effectively shortening the car’s wheelbase and improving the turning circle.

Lamborghini’s chairman and CEO, Stefano Domenicali, said: “This is the next generation Aventador as well as the expression of new technological and performance milestones in super sports car development.

“The Aventador S is a visionary design, cutting-edge technology and driving dynamics in pure harmony, and elevates the concept of super sports cars to a new level.”

The first Aventador S will be delivered in the spring of 2017, with a suggested pre-tax starting price of €218,555 (around £236,000).
