McLaren Special Operations debut 720S Velocity

Despite making its official debut only yesterday, McLaren’s new 720S has already been given a makeover by the manufacturer’s bespoke customisation division.

Called ‘Velocity’, it’s a showcase of how customers could make a 720S personal to them.

McLaren Special Operations (MSO) is behind the process, and is responsible for upgrading the already-impressive road cars. It even creates completely one-off versions of the standard road vehicles for those who truly want to stand out from the crowd.

The exterior of the Velocity has been finished in an all-new colour – Nerello Red. This is used on the front and upper panels of the car, while lower areas of the vehicle are treated to a coat of Volcano Red instead.

The Velocity also uses carbon fibre extensively, with the bonnet, rear vent deck, service cover and sills all crafted from the lightweight material.

Ansar Ali, managing director of MSO, said: “The MSO mission is to fulfil customer desire for exclusivity in their choice of McLaren.

“The lean, sculpted beauty of the new 720S provides the perfect starting point for owners to be creative and the specification of this MSO 720S ‘Velocity’ showcases a taste of the customisation options that are possible.”

The Velocity costs an estimated £335,000 – more than £125,000 on top of the standard car.
