Mercedes adds to E-Class line-up with Cabriolet and All-Terrain models

Mercedes-Benz has updated its E-Class range with two new models – the All-Terrain and Cabriolet.

Prices start at £44,675 for the E220d AMG Line Cabriolet, which is fitted with a multi-layer acoustic fabric roof that can be operated at speeds of up to 31 mph – and takes just 20 seconds to raise or lower.

Featuring four engines – two petrol units and two diesels – the E-Class Cabriolet offers an open-air alternative to the standard E-Class range. The most powerfull engine in the range – a 3.0-litre biturbo V6 – produces 328bhp and 480Nm of torque, allowing it to reach 60mph in just 5.3 seconds and carry on to a top speed of 155mph.

Those after the best fuel efficiency should look towards the E220d, as this has a claimed combined consumption figure of 57.7mpg and CO2 emissions of 126g/km.

The All-Terrain gives drivers an E-Class with more go-anywhere abilities. It’s available with just one engine – a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 diesel – and benefits from a ride height lifted by 39mm compared to the standard E-Class Estate. These changes also mean that the All-Terrain can offer 156mm of ground clearance with the suspension positioned to its highest setting, giving better off-road capability. It also gains four-wheel-drive for improved traction in poor conditions.
