Mercedes reveals updated GLA for 2017

Mercedes-Benz has tweaked the GLA SUV for 2017 with a fresh exterior, updated engines and a revised cabin.

On the outside, the 2017 car is set apart by its re-styled bumpers, new grille and the optional LED headlights. There’s also a new body colour called Canyon Beige.

This new body has made the car slightly more aerodynamic, lowering the coefficient of drag and making the car both quieter and more efficient than before.

The cabin is lifted with new upholstery and trim options, as well as fresh instrument dials and a chrome finish on the seat adjustment switches.

As an option, customers can specify a 360-degree reversing camera, keyless entry and the mechanical locking front differential and AMG Ride Control sports suspension, both of which come courtesy of the AMG Dynamic Plus Package.

Under the bonnet, customers will also be able to specify a new 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine called the 220. The 181bhp unit comes as standard with four-wheel drive.

There’s also a choice of suspension set-ups, with the optional lowered suspension sitting 30mm lower than the standard off-road comfort ride height.

The 2017 GLA goes on sale today, with prices starting at around £25,000. Customers, however, will not see their cars until April, when Mercedes expects to conduct the first deliveries.
