Mini updates model range for 2017

Mini has updated its current range of models with an enhanced cockpit instrument design.

Mini Countryman and Clubman customers who specify the Media Pack XL will now benefit from Apple CarPlay, giving better integration between a smartphone and the car’s on-board system. It allows drivers to access Apple Maps and selected third-party apps via the vehicle’s 8.8-inch screen, and is controlled by either the Mini Touch Controller or the touchscreen.

From July, the cockpit instruments on all Mini models will be easier to read than before. At night time, the numbers and letters displayed will be white rather than orange, making them clearer in low light. This will also apply to the car’s head-up display.

How a motorist changes between the different Mini driving modes has also been changed. A toggle switch located underneath the air conditioning controls now allows the driver to switch between the modes.

The alertness assistant will also be introduced on the Mini three-door and five-door hatches, as well as the convertible from July. This system monitors how the vehicle is being driven, and should it notice the driver losing concentration, will advise the person behind the wheel to take a break with a graphic on the central display screen.
