Mitsubishi launches its Special Vehicle Programme

Mitsubishi has announced it is to launch a new Special Vehicle Projects programme ahead of its launch at the 2017 commercial vehicle show at the NEC in Birmingham, held between April 25 and 27.

Called SVP, the new division is launching its first vehicle, a revised version of the Mitsubishi L200 Barbarian that will be available with exclusive colours, upgraded looks and a more luxurious interior.

Powered by a 2.4-litre diesel engine, it produces 180bhp and has 430Nm of torque thanks to a super select four-wheel-drive system.

The car is available with either a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic gearbox.

Externally it will feature either electric blue metallic paintwork, or Cosmos black. Revisions to make the car stand out more are made at the front with an all-new grille, and all-round wheel arch extensions to accommodate the new 17-inch alloy wheels.

There will also be a black finish to the roof rails, front headlamps and rear tail lamps, and fog light surrounds.

A soft-opening tailgate, puddle lamps and shark-fin like side steps also add to the very rugged look of this special edition pickup.

Inside there is a full black leather interior as well as mood lighting in the foot wells and illuminated doorsills.

As standard the car also features rain and dusk sensors, keyless entry, Bluetooth, Bi-Xenon headlamps, LED daytime running lights and a reversing camera to name a few.

Only 250 will be built, so this is a very limited edition car.

The L200 Barbarian SVP costs from £28,479.
