Mitsubishi SUV to make public debut at Geneva

Mitsubishi is set to reveal a new SUV at the Geneva International Motor Show in March.

According to the Japanese manufacturer, the vehicle is the first in a new generation of cars and will help open the brand up to a different audience.

Based on an enigmatic teaser image, the new SUV appears to have a front end closely related to the design of the current Outlander, featuring a similar representation of the brand’s ‘Dynamic Shield’ graphic.

Towards the rear end of the car, the roof line and belt line meet in a manner similar to that of the Range Rover Evoque. Based on the spacing between the doors, wheels and extremities, the new Mitsubishi should be similar in size to the Nissan Qashqai and Mazda CX-5.

It would seem Mitsubishi hasn’t over-stylised the SUV, with only a single feature line running down its flank.

No word has yet been given on what powertrains will be available with the new car, although it does seem like a plug-in hybrid variant similar to that of the Outlander PHEV would be highly likely.

The Geneva Motor Show kicks off on March 7 with two press days, before opening to the public on March 9.
