Mitsubishi to display GT-PHEV concept at Paris show

Mitsubishi has confirmed that its new GT-PHEV crossover concept will be on display at this year’s Paris Motor Show from October 1-16.

Thought to preview a replacement for the ASX in the Japanese company’s range, the GT-PHEV is a plug-in hybrid “ground tourer” – a phrase Mitsubishi has coined meaning “a car made for cruising across a vast land”.

The front end is completely different to that of the ASX, instead taking inspiration from the ‘Dynamic Shield’ design seen on the front of the latest Outlander. Narrow daytime running lights are set high up, while the headlights are vertical bars of LEDs on the side of the front bumper.

The tail follows suit, eschewing much of the old ASX’s design in favour of a ‘floating’ roof created by the split C-pillar, a rakish rear window and a wide light that runs right the way across the car.

Interior images have not yet been revealed, but Mitsubishi has warned us to expect a “horizontal dashboard that creates a spacious ambiance”.

Under the new bonnet is a four-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid system, which is good for around 75 miles on electricity alone, as well as providing a total hybrid range of about 745 miles.
