New Hyundai i10 revealed prior to Paris debut

Hyundai has revealed the latest iteration of its VW Up!-rivalling i10 ahead of its debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.

At the front, the new i10 gets Hyundai’s latest ‘cascading’ grille, which is set to become a feature on all of the South Korean car maker’s new models. Circular LED daytime running lights have also been added, along with an updated rear bumper and new 14-inch steel and alloy wheels.

Inside, there’s a new upholstery option featuring red cloth, while buyers can also specify either blue or black interior colours on all trim levels.

Other interior tweaks will include new infotainment systems, which centre around a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This offers satellite navigation, web-based weather and traffic updates, as well as Apple Car Play and Android Auto, although Hyundai says the system will only be available on high-spec cars.

Under the bonnet, customers will be able to specify one of two petrol engines: a 1.0-litre and a 1.25-litre, both of which are mated to a five-speed manual transmission as standard. For those preferring automatics, a four-speed option will also be offered.

New safety kit will be introduced, too, including a front collision warning system and a lane departure warning system.

Hyundai’s UK president and CEO, Tony Whitehorn, said: “The new i10 showcases strong build quality and our passion for detail, while also including many features from the segments above.

“The impressive package has made the i10 one of the best-selling cars in its class and popular with customers across the UK – a success story that the new i10 is set to carry on.”
