New Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybird unveiled

Porsche has revealed its latest plug-in hybrid Panamera – the Turbo S E-Hybrid.

Using the same 4.0-litre V8 as the standard Turbo S, the E-Hybrid also utilises an electric motor – with the pair working together to produce 671bhp.

It joins the 4 E-Hybrid as the second plug-in electric car in the Panamera range. It has a claimed all-electric range of 31 miles, and should emit just 66g/km CO2.

Despite these impressive economy figures, it will still reach 60mph in 3.2 seconds and top out at 193mph – making it the fastest hybrid saloon in the world, according to Porsche.

Users will be able to charge the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid in six hours using a conventional domestic power supply, though this can be brought down to 2.4 hours when using a 30-amp socket with an optional 7.2kW charger.

The Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid uses all-electric power when rolling away, but switches to ‘Hybrid-Auto’ mode when it senses when a certain amount of throttle has been applied. This brings both the electric motor and petrol engine into play.

The car will also be available in two wheelbase lengths from launch, with an ‘Executive’ model adding 150 millimetres to the standard car’s length.

The new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is due to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in two weeks’ time, with sales due to commence in July.
