TVR will pull the covers off its long-awaited new sports car at this year’s Goodwood Revival.
Although details on the new British sports car are scarce, the company claims it will be able to top 200mph and complete the benchmark sprint from 0-60mph in less than four seconds.
The as-yet unnamed sports car will cost less than £90,000, and will be powered by a 5.0-litre V8 that has been developed in partnership with Cosworth. It will likely produce around 500bhp.
With such performance levels, the new TVR will find itself in direct competition with the likes of the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS, although it should offer slightly more performance for less money.
Les Edgar, chairman of TVR said: “We are incredibly excited to be unveiling the new car at the Goodwood Revival.
“It’s the first time a global launch of a new car has occurred at the event, and it seems an entirely appropriate place for us to do it, with the marque’s motorsport heritage and an enthusiastic audience of dedicated car fans – and in our 70th anniversary year.
“After a series of secret private viewings organised for the benefit of existing customers for the new car, we know that we have a surefire hit on our hands, and very much look forward to seeing the public reaction in September.”
Gordon Murray Design is helping to build the new model out of their headquarters in Guildford, Surrey. The company will use its newly-developed production process known as iStream to assemble the car.
iStream puts an emphasis on using lightweight materials and claims to reduce CO2 emissions by 40 per cent over the entire vehicle lifecycle.
Although the new model has not yet been shown to the public, all 500 Launch Edition cars are close to being sold.
The public will get their first look at the new TVR at the Goodwood Revival classic car show, which runs from September 8 to 10.
