Citroen announced two new cars for its model line-up at its Geneva Motor Show press conference, called C3 Picasso and C5 Aircross.

The Citroen C-Aircross Concept, which was revealed at the show, will evolve into the C3 Picasso and represents the next model in the company’s plan to produce four new cars in as many years.

Linda Jackson, Citroen CEO, also teased that the next model will be a C-segment SUV called C5 Aircross.

A spokesperson for the brand revealed that the C-Aircross Concept that was on display at Geneva was close to being ready for production, although features such as cameras all over the car would be replaced with traditional mirrors.

The final production model will be revealed on June 13 and should be on sale by the end of the year, while the C5 Aircross will make its public debut at the Shanghai Motor Show in April.

Speaking at the show, Jackson said: “We’ve got a whole model offensive coming up and we’ve decided to concentrate first on SUVs, because that’s where there is growth in every market. Then we move on to the saloons slightly later.

“We believe we have the right ingredients for success. We’re seeing an increase in our volumes in Europe. With the new C3 we can see how we’re attracting younger customers.

“We believe that in terms of our product plan and the vehicles that are coming up, there’s clear coherence. We know this strategy works in lots of regions, so to be honest with you there’s no great evolution. It’s evolution, not revolution.”

Fred Duvernier, design manager for the Citroen C-Aircross Concept, was coy on giving away too many details, but said: “It is too early to say what will make it from this car to the C3 Picasso, but the message is there certainly. What you see is, I hope, promising.”
