Order books open for Mercedes-AMG E 63

The order books for the new Mercedes-AMG E 63 have opened, with prices for the V8-powered saloon starting at £78,935.

That entry price buys the standard E 63 4MATIC+, which features 19-inch AMG alloy wheels, leather upholstery and a 12.3-inch display with Comand Online.

Those wanting to purchase the higher-spec E 63 S 4MATIC+ will have to pay a considerable premium, with this car priced from £88,295. For this, customers get a car fitted with 20-inch AMG alloy wheels, active dynamic engine mounts and AMG performance seats.

At the top of the range sits the E 63 4MATIC+ Edition 1. Based on the E 63 S, this special edition car costs from £106,585, and receives 20-inch alloy wheels finished in black as well as Selenite Grey magno paint and AMG’s Night Package. This includes black gloss detailing on the side sills, black exterior mirror housings and a black front splitter.

All models utilise a 4.0-litre twin-turbo engine, though in different levels of tune. The standard E 63 produces 563bhp, rising to 604bhp in the E 63 S.

The standard car manages the sprint to 60mph in just 3.3 seconds, though this time drops to 3.2 seconds in the more powerful E 63 S. Both are electronically restricted to 155mph, though this can be raised to 186mph in those cars specified with the AMG Drivers package.

Four-wheel-drive is fitted as standard across the range, with the E 63 S cars gaining a ‘drift’ mode that allows it to switch to rear-wheel-drive.

Customer deliveries are expected to begin in June.
