Peugeot unveils its latest 308

Peugeot has revealed the latest version its popular 308, showcasing revised styling and a range of efficient powertrains.

The French automaker will offer the 308 as a hatch, an estate – named SW – and as a performance-orientated GTi.

Updated styling gives the 308 a more up-market image. Sleek headlights and a commanding ‘vertical grille’ are just some of the aspects that give the car extra kerb appeal.

Peugeot’s i-Cockpit touchscreen infotainment system also makes an appearance in the latest 308. Included with it is a smaller steering wheel, connected 3D satellite navigation and upgraded graphics.

The 308 will be offered with various petrol and diesel engines, and is the first car in the wider PSA Group to make use of the new BlueHDi 130 four-cylinder diesel unit.

A BlueHDi 180 diesel is also available, which adds extra power, as is a revised form of Peugeot’s three-cylinder PureTech 130 petrol engine.

Lots of safety features are available with the new 308, including Active Safety Brake, Active Lane Departure Warning and adaptive cruise control.

Peugeot UK managing director David Peel said: “The new Peugeot 308 offers the complete package for car buyers, fusing eye-catching styling, the latest in-car connectivity and up-to-the-minute powertrains.

“Across the board, we’ve enhanced the 308’s unique personality with a strong and high-tech look, and that feeling has been applied inside too with features such as the i-Cockpit bringing seamless connectivity, as well as driver assistance systems that help to take the stress out of driving.

“Factor in a range of new, highly efficient powertrains, including an eight-speed automatic, and the new Peugeot 308 adds up to a compelling package.”

The new Peugeot 308 range is available for UK delivery from September.
