Porsche 911 GT2 RS breaks cover at E3 gaming expo

Porsche’s ballistic new 911 GT2 RS has been shown to the world for the first time at a gaming convention in Los Angeles.

It was revealed to crowds at the launch of the new Forza Motorsport 7 game, which was held during an Xbox preview at the E3 gaming expo. The new GT2 RS is set to act as the cover star for the video game, which arrives in stores on October 3.

While scarce details have been revealed, those in attendance were provided with an exclusive look at the car in the metal.

Next to a standard 911, the GT2 RS’s track-focused nature is immediately apparent. There’s a large rear wing to aid the car’s aerodynamics, as well as an aggressive new body kit.

The German sports car will call upon a tuned version of the 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engine that appears in the 911 Turbo, which is thought to produce in excess of 650bhp. This should allow the GT2 RS to complete the dash from 0-60mph in under three seconds.

The car’s official debut is will take place at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, where more details on the car will no doubt be revealed.

The new GT2 RS is thought to be the most powerful 911 ever, and is expected to go on sale in 2018.
