Practicality updates head up raft of changes for new Octavia

The facelifted Skoda Octavia has been given a host of practicality modifications for 2017.

Sitting at the top of Skoda’s tree as the best-selling car on sale today, the Octavia has been given new interior touches as well as an updated exterior.

On the outside, the newcomer is differentiated by its wider radiator grille and redesigned front bumper, as well as the optional LED headlights.

The car is also larger than before, with the hatchback measuring 11mm longer than the previous model and the estate sitting 8mm longer, providing additional stowage space.

Inside, two USB ports have also been added to the car’s rear, while folding tray tables have been fitted to the back of the front seats. There’s a new touchscreen infotainment system, too, with improved controls and additional clarity.

Ambient lighting is being offered as an optional extra, allowing a choice of 10 different colours to customise the car further.

The on-board driver assistance systems have also been updated, with trailer assist, blind-spot monitoring and rear traffic alert all joining the fleet of safety kit already supplied.

Under the bonnet, customers will be able to take their pick from a range comprising two petrol engines and three diesel engines. Diesel and petrol versions of the vRS hot hatch, meanwhile, crown the line-up.

Skoda is expected to begin taking orders for the new Octavia from January.
