Renault R.S 2027 - The future of Formula One?

Renault has explored the future of Formula One with their latest concept car.

Called the R.S 2027, the idea is to show what F1 could look like ten years from now.

The whole car is proposed to have a greater focus on drivers but also brings more electric power to the sport and further safety enhancements.

Safety has been kept firmly in mind with the vehicle’s design, with an ultra-resistant polycarbonate used to make the cockpit and canopy ensuring maximum driver safety.

The car will use advanced technology to increase performance on the track. Active wings improve the aerodynamics and this, combined with four-wheel-drive and four-wheel-steering, will help give maximum grip through the corners.

Renault claims that one of the most important advancements is a fuel capacity that has been halved and a fully electric mode for use within the pit lane, again saving on fuel and carbon emissions.

Fans either at home or in the stands will have a much greater interaction with the drivers and cars. For example, people will be able to look at the progress of their favourite driver or team and view their telemetry.

Cyril Abiteboul is the Managing Director of Renault Sport Racing. He said: “One role of Renault Sport Racing is to anticipate the future of Formula one so that it draws a maximum number of fans in an environment consistent with Groupe Renault’s objectives.

“We look forward to generating inspired conversations with the racing community, fans and enthusiasts through this concept that highlights our ideas and desires.”
