Renault Scenic hybrid now available to order

Renault’s Scenic MPV is now available with a mild hybrid powertrain.

Priced from £25,055, the dCi 110 Hybrid Assist uses a 10kW electric motor powered by a 48-volt battery linked to the car’s conventional engine. Renault claims that it’ll return 80.7mpg – a 10 per cent improvement over the standard engine – and emit just 94g/km CO2.

The battery is housed behind the second row of seats in the standard Scenic, or in the spare wheel well in the larger Grand Scenic. The electrified powertrain gives the car increased torque – up to 70Nm in certain situations – giving it better in-gear pick-up.

When decelerating, the car is able to regenerate energy thanks to its Motor Generation Unit. This is then stored in the battery.

Despite coming with a £1,000 premium over the equivalent petrol or diesel version, its low emissions do mean that it qualifies for a discounted rate of vehicle tax – just £110 during the first year.

Renault’s Active Emergency Braking System with pedestrian detection comes fitted as standard, as well as 20-inch alloy wheels and an 8.7-inch colour touchscreen.

There are three trim levels to choose from – Dynamique Nav, Dynamique S Nav and Signature Nav – and all come with a generous amount of standard equipment.

All cars come with an electronic parking brake, LED daytime running lights, automatic dual-zone climate control and a DAB digital radio with Bluetooth connectivity.
