Renault is set to unveil its all-new Megane R.S at the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix, ahead of its full Frankfurt Motor Show debut.

Set to rival the likes of the Honda Civic Type-R and Ford Focus RS, the hotter Megane will make its first appearance finished in yellow and black livery to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Renault’s involvement in F1.

Details surrounding the car are currently few and far between, though Renault has teased the overall shape of the car in a heavily camouflaged image. However, it does show off the car’s aggressive front end, complete with a chequered flag motif incorporated in the headlight design.

Development of the new R.S is reported to have started at the same time as that of the standard hatchback which is currently on sale, and it is likely that the faster model will feature certain technological elements from the regular Megane.

A rear-wheel steering system which currently features on the GT model and aids cornering at high speeds and gives greater manoeuvrability at low speeds is also reputed to feature in the R.S.

The all-new Renault Megane R.S will be officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, though, as mentioned, it is likely to break cover at the Monaco Grand Prix on Friday 26th.
