SsangYong provides a glimpse of its new XAVL SUV concept ahead of Geneva reveal

SsangYong’s new XAVL SUV concept will make its debut at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show.

The seven-seater concept follows on from 2015’s XAV concept that was revealed at that year’s Frankfurt motor show.

The South Korean manufacturer says that the XAVL – which is short for “eXciting Authentic Vehicle Long” draws on the SsangYong Korando from the ‘90s.

According to a statement from the firm, the XAVL “presents a tough and masculine-looking SUV concept that blends advanced convenience and the practicality of a multi-purpose MPV”.

It also “provides wide inner space with a user-friendly interface that includes connected car technology and digital display”.

This latest vehicle also comes with an array of safety features to help keep occupants and pedestrians safe. A selection of petrol and “clean-burning” diesel engine provide the XAVL’s power.

Teaser images of the concept suggest that it could appeal to customers who want an affordable, yet up market-looking SUV.

Speculation suggests that it will sit below the next-generation Rexton, which will be based on the LIV-2 concept showcased at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

The 2017 Geneva International Motor Show runs from March 9 to 19.
