SsangYong reveals new Musso pick-up

SsangYong has unveiled the new Musso one-tonne pick-up truck, which replaces the Korando Sports this month.

Powered by a 2.2-litre Euro 6 diesel engine, the pick-up’s South Korean maker says the newcomer is “smooth and refined”.

SsangYong also says the car has the versatility of four-wheel drive, a maximum towing weight of three tonnes and a one-tonne maximum payload.

Paul Williams, SsangYong UK’s CEO, said: “Our commercial vehicles represent an intrinsic part of the SsangYong range, and we decided to reintroduce the Musso name to differentiate this superb utility truck from our passenger cars.

“Musso – which means rhinoceros in Korean – is a tough, robust proposition for any trade, and with a specification, price and warranty no others can compete with.”

The new engine produces 176bhp and 400Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed manual transmission as standard, although an Aisin six-speed automatic is available as an option for top-spec cars.

The simple range comprises just two models, with the entry level SE coming with a new-look front grille and dashboard, 18-inch alloys and leather-look TPU seat upholstery.

Upgrading to the Musso EX adds black 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, LED daytime running lights and a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system offering iPod and Bluetooth connectivity.

Both models come with SsangYong’s five-year unlimited mileage warranty.

Prices start from £15,995 plus VAT for the basic SE, and rise to £18,995 for the top-of-the-range EX automatic.
