Suzuki Ignis to make European debut at Paris Motor Show

Suzuki’s new compact crossover, the Ignis, is due to make its European debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.

Playing on the manufacturers long-standing ability to create compact cars, the Ignis is designed to sit along other cars in the range, such as the S-Cross.

Although a re-imagination of the original, the new Ignis features all manner of new technology.

An optional Smart Hybrid Vehicle system can be fitted, which returns the best fuel efficiency by effectively using the electric motor fitted to the car to recharge its batteries. This is designed to work without reducing the car’s performance.

Going up in the range alongside the Baleno in Suzuki’s line-up of hybrid cars, the Ignis will go on sale in the UK and Europe in January 2017.

The new SX4 S-Cross will also be displayed on the Suzuki stand at the Paris Motor Show.

The S-Cross’ much-improved cabin has been designed with what Suzuki calls the “sophisticated character of an SUV.

There’s change underneath the bonnet, too. A new 1.0-litre sits alongside a 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine, with both replacing the outgoing 1.6-litre petrol unit. The 1.6-litre turbocharged diesel engine carries over from the previous model, however.

The S-Cross range will arrive in the UK in the middle of October.

The 2016 Paris Motor Show will take place between October 1 and 16, at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles.
