Mazda has added two new trim levels to its updated Mazda2 range.

GT and GT Sport will add some sporting credentials to the range, as well as LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, a contrasting black rear spoiler, full black leather interior, privacy glass, keyless entry and 16-inch alloy wheels to name a few.

Exclusive paint finishes are also offered for the GT and GT Sport, including deep crimson mica and eternal blue mica.

Other trim levels in the Mazda2 range include the SE, which is the cheapest costing from £12,695 and SE-L which adds LED fog lamps, power folding mirrors and a shark fin antenna and Sport which has similar levels of equipment to the GT-line.

All trim levels come with varying power levels of the same 1.5-litre Skyactiv-G petrol engine, ranging from the SE with 74bhp to the GT Sport with 113bhp.

Apart from the entry-level SE, all models get a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, sat-nav, DAB radio and cruise control.

Both SE-L and Sport Nav are available with the option of an automatic gearbox.

Jeremy Thomson, managing director Mazda Motors UK, said: “The Mazda2 is a really important car in our line up. It may be the smallest car we produce, but it has at its heart the same values of style, driving involvement and quality that mark out all our products.

“These updates come just two years after the current Mazda2’s launch but they are designed to ensure the Mazda2 remains a class-leading contender in what remains the biggest selling segment in the UK car market. With the new GT and GT Sport models we have two standout models that deliver the high-end equipment, premium looks and high-quality discerning small car buyers are looking for.”
