Vanda Electrics to present electric hypercar in Geneva

Singapore’s first electric hypercar is set to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Named Dendrobium, after the genus of orchid, the car has been designed and built by electric mobility firm Vanda Electrics.

The Singaporean company has collaborated with Williams Advanced Engineering – a technology company that’s part of the same group as the Williams Martini Racing F1 team – to build the striking all-electric machine.

Featuring an eye-catching, angular design, the car includes a roof and doors that open in synch to resemble an open dendrobium flower.

Inside, the cabin will be finished in Scottish leather from the Bridge of Weir Leather Company, which also upholstered the McLaren F1, Citroen DS and the DeLorean DMC-12.

Vanda Electrics CEO Larissa Tan said: “Dendrobium is the first Singaporean hypercar and the culmination of Vanda Electrics’ expertise in design and technology.

“We are delighted to be working with Williams Advanced Engineering, world leaders in aerodynamics, composites and electric powertrains, and Bridge of Weir Leather Company, makers of the finest, lowest-carbon leather in the world.

“The Dendrobium is inspired by nature and rooted in technology, a marriage of design and engineering – I can’t wait to reveal the car to the world in March.”
