Vauxhall reveals all-new Insignia

Vauxhall has revealed its all-new Insignia saloon.

Lighter than the outgoing version, it promises to be more efficient and better to drive.

Due to be officially unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March, the Insignia now features all-wheel-drive and a new eight-speed automatic transmission.

It is also the first Vauxhall to feature an active aluminium bonnet, which helps improve pedestrian protection in the event of a collision.

Rory Harvey, chairman and managing director at Vauxhall, said: “Vauxhall is raising its game even further with the launch of it new Insignia Grand Sport. It has all the virtues of its successful smaller brother the Astra, and takes those to a higher levels. The Insignia Grand Sport will set new standards for design, efficiency, technology and connectivity when it debuts next year at the Geneva Motor Show.”

The exterior of the car features a new prominent grille and slim headlights, along with a coupe-like roofline that helps give the car a more sporty appearance on the road.

Set to be powered by a range of turbocharged engines, the Insignia Grand Sport will also come with the choice of transmissions. From launch, only those cars fitted with all-wheel-drive will be available with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

A wide range of driver assistance systems are also fitted, including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and rear cross traffic alert. This final system uses radar sensors to detect objects coming from up to 20 metres away from the left or right side behind the vehicle.
