Vauxhall to reveal the ultimate VXR8 at Goodwood FOS 2017

Vauxhall will reveal a final version of its VXR8 muscle car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year.

The VXR8 GTS-R is powered by a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine, producing 587bhp and 740Nm of torque. This makes it the most powerful car Vauxhall has made in all of its 114 years.

The GTS-R is based on the Holden Commodore, an Australian model that will finish production in October when the factory closes. Vauxhall started importing versions of the VXR8 to the UK in 2007, selling them through a limited number of dealerships with full service back up and a three-year, 60,000-mile warranty.

This final edition has a number of special features and is exclusive to the UK. Drive is sent to the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential, allowing the GTS-R to use the same torque vectoring system as the standard GTS. The brakes have been improved with six-piston monoblock calipers and 410mm discs. 20-inch forged alloy rims have also been added.

Aesthetics have been improved as well with a facelift that brings a new front fascia, splitter, wings and carbon-fibre wings. At the rear there’s a new diffuser, spoiler, lower panel and quad exhaust outlets with diamond-shaped exhaust outlets.

Finally, the supercharged LSA engine has undergone re-mapping and features a high-flow air filter, allowing it to accomplish its increased power output.

A mere 15 VXR8 GTS-Rs will be brought to the UK, each one costing £74,500. Vauxhall will unveil the car alongside the Insignia Sports Tourer 2.0-litre Turbo 4x4 in the First Glance Paddock at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which takes place from June 29 to July 2.
