Vauxhall unveils Insignia estate ahead of Geneva debut

Vauxhall has revealed its new Insignia estate, dubbed the Sports Tourer, ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

Based on the next-generation Insignia saloon, the Sports Tourer’s 1,640-litre boot space will be 100 litres up on its predecessor. This increase in volume comes despite the fact the newcomer is 200kg lighter than the old model.

As well as providing the additional luggage capacity, the new Insignia also provides additional cabin space, with headroom upped by 31mm compared with the old car and shoulder room up 25mm.

Further forward, the car gets extra technology such as a head-up display, adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning, which features a steering assistance system to keep the car in its lane.

Rory Harvey, Vauxhall’s chairman and managing director, said: ““Vauxhall’s best-ever product portfolio will get even better with the launch of the new Insignia Sports Tourer.

“It has all of the elegance of its Insignia Grand Sport sibling but with even more practicality, including a boot that is more spacious than its predecessor. The Insignia Sports Tourer will set new standards for design, efficiency, technology and connectivity when it debuts next month at the Geneva Motor Show.”
