Volkswagen BUDD-e van wins ‘Concept Truck of the Year’ title

Volkswagen BUDD-e van wins ‘Concept Truck of the Year’ title

Volkswagen’s BUDD-e van has received the “Concept Truck of the Year” award at this years’ North American Concept Vehicle of the Year Awards.

The concept, which is all-electric, received the accolade because of its ability to meet the 21st Century’s vehicle-utility requirements.

It was also praised for its environmentally-friendly design and powertrain. It also won its category in the Automotive Brand Contest, drawing attention for its excellent product design, as well as another award for innovation and design.

The awards, which are held in Plymouth, Michigan, were established in 2002 and is there to celebrate all the best that concept vehicles have to offer. They are judged on their ability to showcase innovations in terms of styling, technology and marketability. The BUDD-e won in the concept truck category for light commercial vehicles.

A Volkswagen spokesperson said of the award: “This additional award for the model proves once again that Volkswagen is on the right track with its next generation of electrically-powered vehicles.”

The BUDD-e was also given praise for its interior recently, winning “Interior Design of the Year – Concept Vehicle” at the Automotive Interiors Expo 2016, which was held in Stuttgart, Germany.

It was also named “Best Innovation” by online technology magazine Endgadget.

The concept was first revealed to the public at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show. With an all-electric range of 331 miles, it is more than capable of dealing with the demands that are placed on a van during day-to-day work.
