Volkswagen reveals Polo Match Edition

Volkswagen has announced that the Polo Match Edition will be available to order from December 21.

The car benefits from a high level of standard equipment. This includes Car-Net App-Connect – a system that allows for greater integration between the driver’s smartphone and the car’s on-board infotainment system via a USB connection. This comes in conjunction with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link.

The infotainment system will also include a feature called Cam Connect. This allows the driver to connect a GoPro Hero video camera to the car and view its output on the screen.

The Match Edition also gains electrically heated door mirrors, LED rain sensors that automatically activate the car’s windscreen wipers in wet weather and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.

Under the bonnet sits one of a choice of four engines – three petrol units and one diesel. The entry level 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine comes with 59bhp and 108g/km C02 emissions.

Customers can also choose a more powerful version of the engine, with this one putting out 74bhp – though this brings with it a £525 premium.

Those looking for a little more performance could opt for the 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol, which produces 89bhp. This can be specified with the choice of either a manual or automatic gearbox. Though emissions are the same in both layouts, the automatic is £1,375 more expensive than its manual counterpart.

Finally, anyone who wants the most efficient engine possible will likely go for the 1.4-litre diesel. This produces 74bhp, yet emits just 97g/km C02 and returns an impressive 74.3mpg.
