The Chrysler 300C is a large executive car offering retro-inspired styling, with the large grille, long bonnet and low roofline typical of American cars from the 1950s and 60s.
It was launched in the UK in 2004, and a second generation was brought to market in 2011 before being discontinued with the rest of the Chrysler line-up when the brand was withdrawn from the UK in 2015. It was offered as a saloon (both generations) and ‘Touring’ estate (first generation only).
In the rear wheel-drive first-generation 300C, engine power was appropriately muscular: there are 3.5-litre V6 and 5.7-litre V8 HEMI petrol variants, and a superb 3.0-litre V6 diesel. The suspension was developed in conjunction with Mercedes-Benz, giving it a fantastic nature for long-distance cruising. The rare SRT-8 performance model is a bargain, featuring a 6.1-litre V8 with 420bhp so it can sprint from 0-60mph in under five seconds. It was updated in February 2008, bringing an upgraded interior and upgraded trim levels.
The second-generation 300C is powered by a single 3.0-litre V6 diesel, making running costs more sensible. It produces 236bhp and 540Nm of pulling power, ensuring explosive in-gear acceleration, and standard all-wheel drive helps to transmit all that power to the road. Standard equipment is very generous, including heated front and rear seats, cruise control and 8.4-inch touchscreen display.
