The Granada was Ford’s largest executive model between 1972 and 1994. It went through three generations, and pre-1985 versions are now considered classic cars, although few survive.
The very earliest Granadas were sold under the Consul name, although after 1975 all carried the Granada badge. You can find saloon and estate models, along with a small number of coupé editions of this first-generation Granada. A second edition was launched in 1978 and featured new, more angular styling; the sporty 2.8-litre Injection model is genuinely fun to drive and powerful, too.
The last Granadas, made from 1985 to 1994, were offered in hatchback, saloon and estate versions, with styling similar to the Sierra of the time. These less-cherished models represent excellent value, and all feature ABS as standard. The top-of-the-range ‘Scorpio’ trim included a 4x4 option.
Granadas are true future classics, but they are rare, so you may have to search nationwide to find the one you want. Many have been in storage, so may need restoration to pass an MOT test; and most will need a good wash, too!
