The Mokka X is an updated version of the Vauxhall Mokka, which was manufactured between 2012 and 2016. The latest iteration of the compact crossover has improved on its already good-looking predecessor, making it even more attractive with, for instance, more streamlined headlights and stylish new teardrop-style tail lights.
The Mokka X’s cabin has been given an overhaul too. It was generally considered that the original’s layout was a little lacklustre and featured rather small, fussy controls. An interior revamp has resulted in a slicker look, and many controls are now integrated within a new seven-inch (or eight-inch) touchscreen display. The seats are at least as comfortable and supportive as before and offer plenty of adjustability, particularly for the driver, who also benefits from a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel. Passenger room remains good too, and in both compartments. The vehicle features a minimum-capacity 360-litre boot space which is easily increased to 1,372 litres when rear seats are folded.
The Mokka X is well-equipped, with features such as automatic two-zone climate control, four electric windows and an alloy-and-leather multifunction steering wheel all included as standard. Audio entertainment is provided by a six-speaker sound system, and Bluetooth connectivity and a satellite navigation system are featured with all models too.
The car comes with Euro NCAP’s highest five-star rating, and an array of safety features, including Hill-hold Assist, an invaluable aid when starting the engine on an incline.
Fuel economy figures range between 42mpg and 69mpg, with the latter delivered by a 1.4-litre 138bhp petrol engine, which also produces a 149g/km CO2 emissions figure.
