The Ford Focus C-MAX was launched in 2004 and is a five-seater, mid-sized MPV based on the Focus hatchback. It was given a facelift in 2007 and the name updated to simply ‘C-MAX’, so if you’re looking for a post-2007 car, or one with seven seats, you will need to edit your search.
Since it shares a chassis with the Focus, the Focus C-MAX is an enjoyable car to drive, with accurate, responsive steering and a smooth, comfortable ride. The elevated driving position makes access easier than a traditional hatchback, and there are lots of thoughtful storage cubbies dotted around the cabin.
All three rear-seat passengers have their own individual seat, with adequate shoulder room for three adults abreast, and each seat can be removed if your Focus C-MAX needs to be reconfigured as a van. Power comes from either petrol or diesel engines, with the latter returning over 50mpg. Trim levels range from Studio though LX, Style, Zetec and Ghia. The plush Ultima trim is a special edition that was on sale only briefly.
